3 Sinfully Delicious but Healthy Smoothies

Written by cryo | Nov 8, 2015 6:11:44 AM

Those of us living in Dubai know there’s little we can do to avoid the heat especially in the summer months, but there are a few things that certainly help. Our favorite way to cool off is of course a CRYOtherapy session, and a close second is enjoying cold, refreshing and healthy smoothies made of all natural ingredients. Not only are they hydrating, they also provide us with a significant portion of the nutrients we need to stay healthy. When it comes to making healthy smoothies there are endless possibilities of combinations that can be created but we’re sharing a few of our all-time favorites here.

The Morning Kick-start

We love starting our morning with a smoothie that keeps us feeling fresh and energized all day. Our concoction contains a handful of kale (you can also substitute with spinach), a green apple, the juice of an orange, a small piece of ginger, and a handful of blueberries along with a few ice cubes. Not only this smoothie full of antioxidants, vitamins, and fiber, it also tastes delicious. The orange and apple provide the perfect amount of sweetness to balance the kale and the tart flavor of the blueberries keep it from becoming too sweet. Once you get into the habit of starting your morning with this healthy smoothies you’ll find it difficult to start the day without it!

The Tropical Treat

It’s not always possible to escape to a tropical getaway but that doesn’t mean you can’t create a tropical inspired drink at home. Not only is this drink delicious and healthy, it’ll have you feeling like you’re lying on a beautiful beach shaded by palm trees. Here’s what you’ll need to make it: a half a cup of chopped fresh pineapple (make sure you use fresh pineapple since the canned ones are loaded with artificial sugar), a half cup of mango, a banana, coconut water and ice cubes. Blend together until the consistency is smooth and top with desiccated coconut for an extra special touch. This smoothie is the perfect substitute for a dessert because of its sweetness and the best part is that it will give you a health boost as well.

Post Workout Refresher

When it comes to post workout recovery this smoothies comes second only to a CRYOtherapy session. It contains a banana, a tablespoon of protein powder, a tablespoon of flax seeds, a tablespoon of peanut butter, and your choice of ¼ cup of low fat milk or yogurt. The lactic acid from the banana, the calcium from the milk or yogurt and the protein from the peanut butter combine to replenish your body with everything it needs after a hard session at the gym.
